Ten things to love about today
Photos taken this afternoon in honor of one of Lucy's favorite bedtime stories, Ten, Nine, Eight by Molly Bang
Ten chubby fingers, nice and brown
Nine tomatoes, rolling all around
Eight blue mugs in straight array
Seven giraffes, waiting to play
Six unmatched socks in a row
Five chocolate cookies, made with peanut butter dough
Four strong hands, two big, two small
Three new candles that smell like fall
Two squirming feet in a tiny heap
One perfect baby, fast asleep

Welcoming Lucy

Three things to love about a visit from my dad...
Well, as the timing of this post shows, Lucy (this week the size of a melon) is starting to slow me down a bit. My dad's visit was a perfect break between lots of busy weeks at work trying to wrap things up before she comes and quite a few baby classes and appointments...
We took a little trip to Amherst for homemade onion rings and a visit to Emily Dickinson's house. These little white houses with her poems are everywhere right now.
My dad assembled Lucy's crib and rocking chair, put up her blinds and curtains, and a hundred other things we had been postponing for just the right moment. Isn't it starting to look ready for someone?
For his last night in town, we indulged Lucy's sweet tooth with these delicious ice cream samplers in the South End.

Around the house this March...
My silhouette isn't quite what it used to be.

First load of Lucy-laundry.

The house is full of picture books again. Only instead of writing papers, I'm planning to teach a workshop. Click here and scroll down a few and you'll see it in print:

Three Things to Love about November News...
These new giraffes came in the mail and have taken residence in our extra room...
As it turns out, next time the Christmas greens come out, we won't be the only ones to appreciate them...
Sumanth took a preliminary claim at primary colors for the nursery by buying this mobile at a Swedish gift shop in Chicago.
The baby is due June 13th, so whether it comes a little early or a little late, next June's post will be something to look forward to!

Three things to love about an October trip to NYC

Going up to the rooftop of the apartment we stayed in.

Seeing Sumanth's books at Word bookstore in Brooklyn. Don't they look so perfect all together on this little wooden shelf?

The original artwork of The Snowy Day at the Museum of Jewish History. Peter's footprints in his first snow made me feel up for another Boston winter.
